Learning to accept help

An important feature of yoga at the studio jak and I go to is "assists" by the teacher. The teacher moves around the room while the class is in progress, gently pushing, pulling or just guiding as needed to help the students with their poses.

For a long time, I hated it when this happened. I was convinced it meant that I was doing the pose wrong, and mostly served to make me feel like I wasn't any good at whatever pose I was working on. In my mind there was a right way to do the pose and a wrong way to do the pose, and if the teacher had to come over to me to fix me then there wasn't much question as to which way I was doing it.

Looking back now, I just have to shake my head and laugh at myself.
